Samasu Medical & Educational Services, in collaboration with GE ICP, is proud to announce a major healthcare milestone in Sudan. At Al-Silah Al-Tibbi Hospital in Shendi, Samasu successfully installed and commissioned the first GE Signa Prime MRI system in the country, expanding access to advanced diagnostic imaging services.
This achievement was delivered entirely by Sudanese biomedical engineers, covering all project phases from site preparation and logistics to installation, commissioning, and training. The project was supervised by Dr. Baraa Essam El-Din Baraa, Imaging Systems Application Specialist at Samasu, ensuring compliance with international quality and operational safety standards.
Samasu extends its appreciation to the installation team—Eng. Jihad Al-Tigani, Eng. Saleh Ramadan, and Eng. Musab Adel Saleh, one of the company’s trainees—reflecting Samasu’s commitment to building local technical capacity. We also thank the Shendi Military Hospital team, represented by Civil Engineer Major Nashid Wagie Allah and Biomedical Engineer Ayat El-Sayed, for their strong collaboration.
Supporting Healthcare Recovery in the Post-Conflict Phase
This milestone comes at a critical time, as Sudan’s healthcare sector has been severely affected by conflict, leaving many MRI systems in Khartoum and other regions out of service. In response, Samasu is actively leading efforts to restore and recommission MRI systems, rapidly returning essential diagnostic services to operation and supporting clinical decision-making during the recovery phase. The installation of the GE Signa Prime MRI in Shendi, alongside ongoing MRI recovery projects, reflects Samasu’s commitment to rebuilding healthcare infrastructure, strengthening system resilience, and ensuring continued access to high-quality diagnostic care across Sudan.
