To serve the rapidly growing population of Al Wakra, Qatar’s Ministry of Health required a new, multi-disciplinary general hospital. The ambitious project demanded a partner with the expertise to not only build a world-class facility but also to manage the entire complex process, from initial financing and design to equipment procurement and long-term operational planning. Samasu Group was selected as the sole turnkey partner, tasked with delivering a fully operational hospital that would set a new standard for healthcare in the region.
A Complex Project on an Ambitious Timeline
The delivery of the Al Wakra General Hospital presented several key challenges that required a deeply integrated approach:
- Aggressive Timeline: The project needed to be delivered and fully operational within a strict 20-month timeframe to meet urgent public health needs.
- Complex Global Procurement: Sourcing and delivering over 5,000 individual pieces of specialised medical equipment from dozens of international OEMs required a robust and resilient global supply chain.
- Seamless Integration: All systems—from clinical IT and patient records to building management and backup power—needed to be perfectly integrated and validated before the first patient arrived.
Operational Readiness: The hospital had to be fully staffed, with all clinical and operational personnel trained and ready to deliver care from day one.
